No one expected this decade in healthcare to start with a pandemic , but the experiences of 2020 – 2021 have dramatically changed the industry in many ways . COVID-19 revealed numerous areas where improvement is needed — everything from supply chain relationships to facility configurations . It has brought financial devastation to many facilities . Beyond operational impact , the human toll is both internal and external : impacting lives of employees , patients , and families . The stress and additional workload have exacerbated burnout and mental health issues among caregivers . What were considered priorities two years ago have changed due to COVID-19 .
In this eBook , HealthStream presents the opinions of healthcare leaders as they assess the challenges and changes of the past , and move beyond the turmoil caused by COVID-19 . For the first time since February of 2020 , decision-makers across medical units are able to look ahead and begin planning for the future . To understand current industry thinking and strategy , HealthStream asked leaders to take stock of where they are today , and where they want to be at the end of this decade .
