Organ Cloning for Future Organ Failure

by: Erik Zamra

Organ cloning should happen for future organ failure. “Great benefits could come from organ cloning for example, easy replacement of inner organs and tissues for patients in need and waiting of transplants. Organ cloning can also be a solution to the infertility problem between couples” (Pros and Cons of Cloning). Organ cloning could mainly help in fighting the wide range of genetic diseases and genetic organ failures.

Organ cloning is very beneficial because we would be able to easily replace internal organs and tissues for personal use, patients in need, and people waiting for organ transplants. Instead of waiting for suitable organ donors alive or dead, doctors would be able to clone our organs, remove the bad organ and replace it with the new one. Most of the transferred organs have the patient’s genes, so there is less risk for the body to reject the organ.

The U.S. Department of health & human services states nearly 95% of U.S. adults support organ donation, so why aren’t they all registered? These U.S. adults might be in support of organ donation but are not registered for organ donation, because of fear, religious beliefs, or maybe they just think it’s unethical for themselves, or family members to be buried with organs missing, a funeral is a place where you show respect, so if someone else is using one of their loved ones organs while the loved one is already dead they might feel disrespected, and sad. The U.S. Department of health & human services also goes on to say that 122,215 people in The United States of America are waiting for organs, 18 people will die each day waiting for an organ. And with simply one organ donor we could save up to 8 lives. Yes that sounds great all but, the problems is that we don’t have people registered to donate organs, so a solution to this problem could be organ cloning, a lot of people waiting for organ transplants would benefit from organ cloning. If we did organ cloning we would eliminate the organ transplant waiting line not only in the U.S. but around the world, and everybody in need of organs would be living their lives again full of happiness and joy and without a worry of organ failure ever again all thanks to organ cloning.

“While there are many reasons for needing an organ transplant, certain untouched or uncontrolled diseases will often lead to organ failure. This can happen with diabetes, which affects the kidneys, liver disease, and even severe hypertension (high blood pressure), which affects both the heart and kidneys” (Organ Donation Data/Statistics). Most people don’t approve of organ cloning and this is why we have the problem of organ failure.
