Elijah said: "if I be a man of God". What does that mean? It means that Elijah said that if I have a right standing with God. If I have a place before God. If I have a mouth before God. If I have right standing with God.
See, Elijah stood on and made use of his right standing with God without sense of fear and doubt. He said: if I be a man of God, let fire fall and consume the captain and his army. Did fire fall from heaven? Yes, it did.
Fire fell from heaven upon the enemies of Elijah and consume them. Fire fell because he had right standing with God and a place before Him. God had no choice than to release the fire and consumed those men.
As a child of God, you have to understand that you have right standing with God like Elijah. You have a place before God like Elijah. You have mouth before God like Elijah. How? Why?
In Christ God has declared you righteous before Himself because of Christ. When Christ rose from the dead you're justified i.e. righteous before God (Romans 4:25). Christ was put to death for your sins and was only permitted by God to rise when He had made you righteous before God.
In essence, God imputed His righteousness on you. Just as your sins were laid on Him on the cross, righteousness of God was put or laid on you when you're born again or saved.
Hear this, Jesus gave you right standing with God. You're not only righteous but you're also the righteousness of God in Him(2 Cor. 5:21). You're not righteous because of what you have done but because of what He has done for you.
Hear this, Elijah had no sense of fear or doubt while exercising his right standing with God. His stand before God was the leverage/legal ground he used to judge Israel (1 Kings17:1-4) and the armies of king that came to arrest him. Joshua also used his right standing with God to stop the sun and moon.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH
YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS ?
