You’re becoming more and more adept at anticipating situations that
may trigger inappropriate eating and you’re planning ahead on how to
handle them. For instance, before going to a party or out to dinner,
you close your eyes and mentally rehearse the wise selections you’re
going to make. Knowing and realising that this makes you more likely
to carry through with what you mentally rehearsed ahead of time.
In any and all situations, if you’re ever tempted to overeat or eat the
inappropriate foods, you always stop and ask yourself, “Do I really
need this food. Do I really want it? Am I willing to trade my health, my
happiness, a slim, trim, figure back for the fattening foods? You then
find it very easy to say a firm and resounding “NO” to these foods…
realising that you are always in as much control as you choose to be.
Thinking Trigger
You now have new ways of dealing with your old habits. You reflect on
all positive aspects about yourself as the attractive person that you are.
Allow these positive feelings to grow even stronger and stronger …
every day and every night. Now and in the future you are learning to
be less self-critical, less of a perfectionist and more flexible in your
beliefs about the way things ought to be.
You now recognise when you’re making excuses or rationalisations
that allow you to eat inappropriately and you now create arguments
you can use to remove this kind of thinking. Keep thinking healthy and
you will program your thinking to the point where healthy eating
comes naturally and automatically. You constantly and consistently
focus your thoughts on the benefits to be gained from persisting in
your weight management efforts, as well as the costs you’ll pay if you
don’t.
