'Periphery' or the arms and legs to support our Fight-or-Flight response,
secondly it shuts down growth and regeneration processes and also shuts
down the immune system within our system to focus on the impending
perceived danger and thirdly, it pushes the blood from the frontal region of
our brain responsible for our Conscious and reasoning faculties to the back
of our brain responsible for our Reflex behaviour.
So guess you can get the picture now, perception of threat to life causes
stress which in turn shuts down our growth and regeneration processes
while at the same time puts our immune system in a shutdown mode and
makes us respond on reflexes rather than logic and reason.
So let me conclude with just one thought, please take care of your
mental and emotional wellbeing in this moment of crisis, know that it will
pass with just a little Conscious effort and a little caution of nutrition,
hygiene & social distancing.
Let not the paranoia of media and social media platforms drive your mind
into an abyss of hopelessness, despair and panic. We may be low on
supplies, feeling stuck in quarantine, grieving loss of a loved one or just
frustrated with the helplessness of watching the numbers grow everyday
and wondering, when and where will it lead to or even thinking will things
ever be back to normal !!!!!
Just like you all, I too have these questions and doubts off and on, but
here are a few things I have tried which you too may try in this moment.
1.First and foremost stop reading and checking numbers and news every
few minutes, doing it once a day is enough I guess as you anyway can't do
anything to change them other than adding to your stress.
2.Secondly maintain personal hygiene & ensure same for family members,
eat nutritious organic/natural home cooked food based on whatever you
can get in the current situation,
