Also remember that any change in emotion or thought pattern, will be
reflected in a change in physiology, which is an external behaviour.
SECT
SECT is an acronym for Situation, Environment, Company and Time.
A major difference between emotional health and physical health, is that a
physical challenge will stay the same whether you are at home, abroad, at
work, with people around you or alone. A broken leg will be a broken leg
regardless. A piece of sand in your eye will feel the same regardless of where
you are.
An emotion however, is always influenced in one way or another by our
environment, the situation we are in, our company and the illusive factor of
time (SECT). Time can be time of day, time of week, time of a memory (past)
an anticipation (future) or time in life. In the same way as your emotions, your
thoughts and actions are at constant interplay with your SECT:
BODY-MIND-NEED-STATE
Although it is very clear that we have both a body and a mind there is
absolutely no consensus on where they meet. To display this we started from
the Emotional Triad of Tony Robbins, which is a triangle with the sides of
physiology (body) and language (mind) under which there is focus (need)
and the middle is your state.
STATE
Your state is the emotional sum of your status in any given moment, and
contrary to any explanation model it will be changing fast and interacting with
the SECT you are in, it will depend on your status of stress, sleep, hydration
and what you believe is possible at any given moment. A state can be
anchored and trained as in classic conditioning. Any change in your
physiology will change the qualities of your state. Your state has a layer of
highest priority which is stress.
STRESS
Stress is a separate filter that can change every emotion, thought and
behaviour. It can bring in a complete turnaround in morals and actions. Any
parent with moral values about never stealing may consider doing so to save
the life of it’s child.
