And I do mean basic. Reincarnation is a doctrine or belief, which holds that our souls are reborn many times in different bodies. The word itself comes from the Latin words “re”, meaning to repeat, and “carn” or “carnis” meaning flesh - in other words, to enter the flesh again. While there are many and varied beliefs regarding the concept of reincarnation, the one fundamental principle underlying all of them is the belief that we all possess an immaterial and incorporeal “something” (called the soul, spirit, essence, inner self, inner being, and a whole host of other names) which survives our death and persists as a definable entity.
