The Power of “Words” As hypnotists, we are aware about the power of words more than many other people. We know how unconsciously dropped comment can install a lot of damage into one’s mind. We also know that with a bit of conscious effort, the word can heal. The power of suggestion, sometimes, much stronger than any medication or even a surgeon’s knife. That’s why we’re so careful weighing every suggestion, every word during hypnosis sessions. Subconscious mind will take in those suggestions and apply in the way that it can chemically and physically alter one’s body, can clear away traumas and fears, can turn one’s whole life around. There is absolutely no doubt that the word has enormous effect on our mind. But not many people realize that the effect the word can produce goes far beyond our mind. In my healing practice, I use spell-work. Yes, I use spells, like in magic or witchcraft, as some would say. It’s very similar to traditional hypnosis. The spells are scripted in a similar way we script hypnosis. The use of imagery and metaphors is very common in spells. Some people say, it is all just hypnosis. You put suggestions into someone’s mind, and the healing may happen. Both, hypnosis and spell-work, require trance, with the only difference is that the practitioner has to be in the trance not the client.
