HEAD OF THE CHARLES REGATTA

well into their 80’s, and represent over
800 clubs and universities.
In addition to sponsoring the
regatta, BNY Mellon is also an active
participant in the races. This year,
BNY Mellon has entered two crews: a
Men’s Masters Four and a Mixed Eight
that will compete for the Director’s
Challenge—an event that benefits the
permanent endowment of the HOCR.
These rowers represent a diverse
group of employees from BNY Mellon
and will compete on October 21st
and 22nd. Additionally, we are proud
to award the BNY Mellon College
Championship Trophy to the winning
collegiate teams in the Men’s and
Women’s Championship Eights. Last
year, the winners were the University
of Washington men and the Yale
University women. We’ll be there on
the river banks to support all of these
competitors this year as they vie for
top honors.
We would like to express our
deep gratitude to Race Directors,
Bracknell Baker and Nick Lloyd,
as well as the rest of the Race
Committee and the Race Operations
Group for their tireless efforts and
planning to ensure the Regatta’s
success. Thank you also to the
Department of Conservation and
Recreation and the Board of Directors
of the Regatta for their continued
hard work on this event.
We also wish to acknowledge the
nearly 2,000 volunteers on Regatta
weekend who donate their time and
energy. Importantly, we would like
to extend our appreciation to the
membership of the Cambridge Boat
Club, the host club of the Regatta
since 1965, for their faithful support of
the Regatta.
In closing, HOCR holds a special
place in Boston and Cambridge,
with the three original goals of the
Regatta—being fun to work on, fun to
row in and fun for the people whose
neighborhood it goes through—
remaining ever present in the ethos
of the event. We welcome rowers and
spectators from around the globe to
enjoy it with us.
