III. EMERGENCY RESPONSE SECTORS AND BUDGET (OCT. 2105- SEPT. 2016)
In October 2015 WV Ethiopia prepared a response plan
appealing for $22m for WASH, Nutrition, Food Security and
other needs. Due to the increased number of people affected
over the subsequent months, World Vision Ethiopia has revised
its appeal to $38m in February 2016 and to $48 in May 2016.

3.1 EMERGENCY WASH
According to the HRD over 2 million Ethiopians will be without
potable water for extended periods. Thus the emergency
WASH intervention objective is to improve access to safe
water for drinking, cooking and personal and domestic hygiene.
World Vision Ethiopia has accomplished remarkable Water
supply system construction and rehabilitation activities in
drought affected areas. Rehabilitation of 110 shallow wells,
drilling of 33 shallow wells, 16 springs; including 3 deep wells
constructions are the major accomplishments to date.
Average and above average rainfall since June has improved
water availability in most drought affected areas. However, still
134 districts remain in priority one for WASH as per the June
2016 hotspot classification. World Vision Ethiopia responding to
WASH needs in drought affected areas with 10.9million USD
to benefit 717,945 people.
