community and wouldn’ t let it go unanswered. Look around you. Think of an issue you care about, or that has impacted someone close to you. Look and see what the needs are that you can use your legal, organizational, financial, and other skills to meet. I promise you, there is a local organization that can use your talents. And, if you see a need you want to help meet, but can’ t find anyone who is working in that area, make your own. So much good has been done when just one person decides to act.
The HCBA has subject area Sections that are active and always looking for new energy and people. If you are passionate about the area of law in which you are practicing, or if you want to dive deeper into it, please get involved with the Sections. They provide a network of peers and mentors with a wealth of knowledge.
Similarly, there are amazing voluntary bar organizations and Inns of Court in Tampa Bay that are active and involved in the community. They also can provide a network of fellow practitioners, potential mentors, and, yes, friends that will stay with you throughout your career.
So again, everything seems unstable and scary at times. The monsters under the bed look like they may be real. Maybe you don’ t have the ability to make an impact on a broader level, but all of us can make a difference right here in Hillsborough County, right here with our vulnerable populations. We have all been given a great privilege to be a part of the Hillsborough County legal community. Let’ s make sure to pay it back to the local community. n
