Welcome to a new Bar Year! I hope you all are as excited as I am for the challenges and opportunities a new year presents. I am starting this year beating a familiar drum— that of encouraging all our members to get involved not just with the HCBA as a whole, but in the individual practice area Sections. Mark Baseman, writing for the Marital and Family Law Section this issue, encapsulates much of what I have been thinking about over the Summer. The practice of law can be challenging, exhausting, and often isolating, but being part of a community can enrich the experience and help mitigate the negative aspects of being a lawyer. And being not just a part of the community, but an active participant therein, makes the experience that much richer.
I have had the opportunity this Summer to travel throughout Hillsborough County, visiting with a variety
