“ It’ s an honor to follow the tradition of leadership of our past presidents of this organization … going back more than 125 years,” Hall said.
Hall is a partner in the Tampa office of Bradley Arant Bout Cummings LLP, where he focuses on complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and federal court practice.
Hall earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts and his law degree from the University of Florida.
He also is a past chair of the HCBA’ s Military & Veterans Affairs Committee.
Thirteenth Circuit Judge Thomas Palermo, a longtime friend, introduced Hall at the ceremony.
“ Matt’ s life is a testament to the American dream,” Palermo said, calling Hall“ a man of action, integrity and service.”
“ He has worked from the bottom up, is not afraid of hard work, has demonstrated courage under fire, and loves his children fiercely,” said Palermo.
Judge Palermo said Hall’ s career has been dedicated to“ lifting others up,” especially those in the Tampa Bay veteran community.
Palermo also recounted how Hall, with meager personal resources right out of law school, raised the funds needed to endow the first veteran’ s scholarship at UF’ s law school.
In his remarks, Hall thanked Chief Judge Sabella and members of the local judiciary for their involvement in the HCBA.
Hall recognized the new HCBA Board of Directors and YLD President Amanda Keller, a colleague at the Bradley law firm, and the YLD Board. He further stated he looks forward to collaborating with all of them throughout the Bar year.
He also thanked some judges and attorneys who have been key mentors in his career, including former HCBA presidents Ben Hill, III and Tom Gonzalez.
Hall said his goals for the year are to continue the HCBA’ s excellent educational and networking programs.
Additionally, Hall said he intends to work to strengthen the organization’ s ties with the local community, highlighting“ the great work our members do each and every day.”

The new Bar year brings new opportunities for all HCBA members to connect and learn.
These include the many informative CLE seminars and numerous membership and social events held throughout the Bar year.
Make it a point to attend the HCBA’ s 28th Annual Bench Bar Conference, Membership Luncheon, and Judicial Reception, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the Marriott Water Street Hotel( formerly Waterside), which is always a highlight of the Bar year.
I look forward to seeing you sometime soon at an upcoming HCBA event. n
