Turning to the Magazine, the Young Lawyers Division has a retrospective of their year thus far and a preview of some upcoming events. The Hillsborough County Young Lawyers Division is one of the most active I have seen in my legal career. Voluntary bar associations can provide such great opportunities for a young attorney and make a huge, early impact on their career. Voluntary bar associations can be especially impactful in helping to pair a young attorney with a mentor to whom they can turn for assistance with the tribulations that come along with a career in the law. And mentorship does not stop when you age out of the Young Lawyers Division. The pool of mentors on whom I rely has grown throughout my professional career, and now encompasses attorneys in Tampa, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and throughout Florida. No matter where you are in your career, take a look at the voluntary bar associations that are relevant to your area of practice, and even those that are just kind of adjacent. If you get involved, it will pay dividends through out your career.
I also encourage you to read Amy Casanova-Ward’ s article on the visit to Tampa by a group of legal professionals from our sister city of Le Havre, France. The French delegation was here for a reciprocal visit, after a delegation of legal professionals from Tampa visited Le Havre in 2023. A tremendous amount of planning and work went into making sure the delegation had an experience that was both educational and uniquely Tampa.
Finally, there is a very interesting article on the murals found through the Tampa Bay area. Going on an art“ treasure hunt” looking for these sometimes hidden gems is one of the most fun times I have had as a parent and Tampa resident.
