Reaping the Dividends of Getting Involved

No matter where you are in your career, take a look at the voluntary bar associations that are relevant to your area of practice, and even those that are just kind of adjacent.
As the calendar turns to springtime, and our thoughts turn to summer adventures, the lawyers and Sections of the Hillsborough County Bar Association are hard at work and provide us with some interesting perspectives, up- dates, and insights.
Following up on my message from last issue, the 21st Annual Judicial Food Festival and 16th Annual 5K Pro Bono River Run was a huge success. The 5K Committee and volunteers, along with the Judicial Food Festival Committee, did an excellent job, attracting a capacity field for the 5K and close to 500 HCBA members and their families for the Festival overall. The weather conditions for the race could not have been better, and the course along the
river was as beautiful and interesting as always. Runners and walkers of all abilities set out after a stretching session led by Judge Lindsay Alvarez and a stirring rendition of the anthem by Judge Wendy DePaul. The Food Festival was jam-packed with booths offering everything from sweet treats to savory bites. There was something for every appetite. And that’ s not even to mention the delicious and intriguing libations. It was a really great time for members and their families. If you did not make it this year, I highly encourage you to come next year and even to participate!
