The HCBA Bar Leadership Institute Class had a busy Fall with various modules and lots of learning !

Our year started with a Welcome Reception on September 13 , that allowed the Class Members to get to know each other before the modules began . This year ’ s group varies in practice area , firm size , and interests , all of which add to the complexity of the Class . The Class also heard from HCBA Executive Director John Kynes and program sponsor , Huseby Global Litigation . Finally , the Class heard from Co-Chairs Hillary Thornton , Paige Tucker , and Idalis Vento about the amazing things in store
for the upcoming modules !
On October 19 , the BLI Class attended its first module , a Tampa City Council meeting , to witness local leaders make critical decisions that affect us every day . During this meeting , the Class heard motions raised , public comments made , budgets reviewed , and votes taken , including impassioned advocacy on behalf of critical causes , such as Downs Syndrome Awareness and
theBLiclasshasreceivedvaluableinsight abouttheinterconnectednessoftampa anditsmanyindustries .
International Stuttering Day . The Class was also able to watch the City Council commend Mr . Calvin Thornton , Engineer IV of the City ’ s Mobility Department , for 38 years of service , and celebrate his upcoming retirement .
