The global pandemic has transformed how lawyers , financial neutrals , and mental health professionals practice , including in the arena of collaborative law . Before the pandemic , client meetings , mediations , depositions , and hearings almost always occurred in person . Likewise , most collaborative attorneys met with their clients in person , and most teams met face-to-face . The idea of doing any heavy lifting in a collaborative case over videoconferencing would have been foreign to most practitioners . Frankly , if a participant had proposed that the entire collaborative team meet over Zoom , the proposal likely would have been rejected . The average collaborative professional would have maintained that an in-person meeting was necessary for any number of reasons , including : ( 1 ) that the full team needed to be in the same room for the collaborative “ magic ” to happen ; ( 2 ) that the full team needed to be together to brainstorm with access to shared visual aids ; ( 3 ) that team members
