regularly employed , or employed but not paid by their employer while serving as a juror .
As a recent change in our procedures , directly supported by Florida law , jurors can choose to donate their compensation to two identified types of nonprofits . Locally , these two non-profits are the guardian ad Litem ’ s “ Voices for Children ” program and The Spring of Tampa Bay , a local domestic violence shelter . Our office works closely with these judicial-community partnerships . These partnerships are key to my office , and this donor option is another way to continue to show support for our children , victims of domestic violence , and the overall community .
The costs to operate these organizations continue to rise just like household budgets . We are thankful jurors are donating their juror compensation , and it is greatly appreciated by those who benefit from these non-profits .
To this end , thank you for your service if you have served and in advance if you are called . We appreciate the impact you have on ensuring the justice process runs fairly and smoothly . n
