Our music program promotes the objectives stated in the Enfield Music Department Philosophy: "To offer a program of study (through creating, performing and responding) that is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make music a meaningful part of everyday life." In addition, we strive to provide students with the knowledge, skills, experiences and understanding necessary to lead them to a lifelong appreciation of music and all the performing arts. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work with your children. PHYSICAL EDUCATION Mrs. Annis: We have been busy in the gym this year. The students have been doing various locomotor movements and enjoyed a unit on chasing and fleeing. We just enjoyed jumping and landing and the students had great ideas with patterns. We are currently having fun dribbling, passing, and shooting the soccer balls. We then will begin throwing and catching soon. Please remember sneakers on PE days! LIBRARY Mrs. Battista: Welcome back, HMS families! I hope you’re enjoying the crisp and cool fall weather. The library is a hustling, bustling place these days. All classes have been making their weekly visits. Students in grades 1 and 2 have been taking out 2 books per visit, and those in Pre-K and K have been taking out 1 book per visit. Kindergarten students will transition to 2 books per visit around the November time frame. Lunch time library for grades 1 and 2 has been very well attended, with about 100 students per week. The library website has been introduced to students in grades K through 2. Hopefully all students brought home the website address information so that they can use the site at home as well. In November, Kindergarten students will learn how to choose books from the shelves using guide books-this is always exciting for them! This year, students in grades 1 and 2 will be introduced to the on-line catalog (Follett Destiny); Grade 2 in November and Grade 1 in the spring. Lear
