DEERUBBIN CENTRE CELEBRATES
The Deerubbin Centre in Windsor
– home to Hawkesbury Central
Library, Hawkesbury Regional
Gallery, community meeting rooms,
the Evergreen Café, and community
service providers FACS and Wesley
Dalmar – will celebrate its tenth
anniversary on Friday 19 and
Saturday 20 June.
Designed by Hawkesbury
architectural firm, Pont Williams &
Leroy, the landmark building was
constructed on the site of the old
Hawkesbury Hospital, and was part
of the biggest investment in cultural
infrastructure the district had ever
seen.
As well as vastly improved library
facilities, the building provided a
home for our first Regional Gallery,
which has since staged 68 ma jor
exhibitions, and many smaller ones,
as well as numerous talks, events,
workshops and excursions. Nearly
80,000 visitors have been through
its doors, and visitor satisfaction is
consistently rated very highly by
both locals and visitors, who come
from all over Sydney, as well as
further afield, to enjoy the latest and
best in contemporary art.
The celebrations start on Friday
