McQuade Park in the heart of Windsor is set for a major renewal, with work now underway on a comprehensive Masterplan that will shape the park’ s future for generations to come.
The concept Masterplan is supported by $ 165,000 in funding from the NSW Government’ s Metropolitan Greenspace Program, matched by Hawkesbury City Council.
The plan will establish a long-term vision to improve amenity, accessibility and functionality across the park, while balancing modern recreational and sporting needs with its strong cultural heritage and environmental significance. Future design work will aim to create a well-integrated, inclusive public space that reflects the evolving needs of the Windsor community.
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully, said the project would strengthen McQuade Park as a key community asset.
“ McQuade Park is one of the Hawkesbury’ s most significant public spaces, and this project will help revitalise the park so it continues to support sport, recreation and community connection,” he said.
Hawkesbury City Mayor, Les Sheather, said the Masterplan represents an important step toward a vibrant and
sustainable community space.
“ This project gives us the opportunity to protect the park’ s heritage while planning thoughtful improvements that will benefit families, sporting groups and visitors well into the future,” he said.
Key elements of the Masterplan include a comprehensive review of the entire park, new landscape plans across precincts such as McQuade Oval, Don’ t Worry Oval and the War Memorial area, and initiatives to celebrate the site’ s heritage.
Plans will also explore reducing
hard surfaces, improving lighting and safety, enhancing pathway connections, upgrading signage, and addressing building structures throughout the park.
The Masterplan will reinforce McQuade Park’ s role as a destination for sport, recreation and community gatherings, while embedding connection to Country and promoting sustainability and accessibility.
Community input will play a central role, with opportunities for residents to provide feedback expected to open soon.
