Timeless elegance: Clydesdale carriages to return to Thompson Square

Prepare to trade the hum of engines for the rhythmic clip-clop of history as Thompson Square in Windsor comes alive on Saturday, 6 June. As part of the annual Festival, visitors will be transported back to the 19th century with the return of much-loved horse-drawn carriage rides.
From 2:30pm, the historic precinct- recognised as Australia’ s oldest public square- will play host to a pair of majestic Clydesdale horses. These gentle giants will guide passengers on a relaxed journey through Windsor’ s most storied streets, offering a unique perspective on the area’ s beautifully preserved heritage buildings and leafy surrounds.
More than just a ride, this experience is a living tribute to a bygone era. Passengers are invited to step into the past and travel as their ancestors once did, taking in the charm and character that defines Windsor.
“ It’ s a rare opportunity to slow down and truly appreciate the town’ s rich history,” organisers said.“ Even a short ride can create a lasting memory.” As the carriage rolls through Thompson Square, the atmosphere promises to be nothing short of magical. The soft afternoon light, combined with the timeless backdrop of heritage architecture and historic gas lamps, will create a scene reminiscent of another century.
Whether you’ re a history enthusiast, a family looking for a memorable outing, or simply someone wanting to enjoy a peaceful moment, the sight and experience of the Clydesdales in Australia’ s oldest square is not to be missed.
