Lions across District N5 have launched a new districtwide service initiative aimed at strengthening community safety and providing practical support to victims of domestic violence.
The program is now officially underway, with the first shipment of doorbell camera devices delivered to Riverstone Police Station. This marks the beginning of coordinated distribution through local NSW Police Domestic Violence Units.
Led by the Lions Club of Richmond, the initiative brings together Lions Clubs across the district in partnership with the New South Wales Police Force Local Area Commands( LACs). Through this collaboration, Lions are providing simple but effective technology designed to help protect vulnerable members of the community.
Under the program, Lion Scott Hinks coordinates the purchase of approved doorbell camera devices on behalf of participating clubs, with the equipment distributed directly to NSW Police. When attending domestic violence incidents, police can provide these devices to victims for installation at their homes
where appropriate.
Region 3 Chairperson and Second Vice District Governor Elect, Lion Scott Hinks of the Lions Club of Richmond, has been instrumental in driving the initiative across the district.
Lion Hinks said the project highlights how Lions can deliver meaningful, practical support at a grassroots level.

violence is not just a policing issue— it’ s a community issue,” he said.“ As Lions, we are always looking for ways to make a real difference, and this initiative shows how service clubs can work alongside authorities to provide genuine support to those who need it most.
“ A doorbell camera may seem like a simple device, but for someone living with fear or uncertainty, it can offer reassurance, provide valuable evidence if needed, and add an extra layer of safety.”
The Lions Club of Richmond is overseeing procurement and distribution to ensure the program remains consistent, sustainable, and scalable as more clubs come on board.
With early momentum building, it is hoped additional Lions Clubs across the district will support the initiative as awareness grows and more police commands join the program.
Clubs interested in participating or seeking further information are encouraged to contact Lion Scott Hinks through the Lions Club of Richmond.
