EXHIBITION : 11 STORIES FROM THE RIVER DYARUBBIN ON DISPLAY NOW - FREE ENTRY Hear stories about the river ’ s formation , Aboriginal culture , colonial settlers , historic floods , farming , boats , recreation , and ecology , from deep time to the very present . With over 80 contributors from the wider Hawkesbury area . This new collaborative exhibition joins with 11 audio walks located along the banks of the Hawkesbury River between Yarramundi and Sackville .
EXHIBITION : STARRY NIGHT : THE WORLD OF JOHN TEBBUTT ON DISPLAY NOW - FREE ENTRY Renowned 19th century astronomer and Hawkesbury resident , John Tebbutt , is the focus of this two-part exhibition . Visit the museum to see Tebbutt ’ s original objects on display , including the telescope he used to discover the Great Comet of 1861 . Alternatively , you can explore the exhibition online which features interviews about Tebbutt ’ s astronomical work and instruments , a 360 ° virtual tour of his Windsor observatories , and detailed information about his life and achievements . EXHIBITION : PAPER SCISSORS ROCK FRIDAY 8 DECEMBER – SUNDAY 10 MARCH Paper is ordinary and because of this the ‘ possibilities of paper ’ in the hands of creative and inquisitive minds , can be simply extraordinary . Paper Scissors Rock will explore the contemporary use of ‘ paper ’, through diverse media including sculpture and installation , video , drawing , painting , collage , photography , and jewellery . The exhibition is accompanied by Cardboard Place , a drop in makerspace dedicated to all things cardboard and paper . AFTERNOON ART CLUB - CREATING WITH PAPER AND PORTRAITURE WEDNESDAYS 4-5.15PM ( TERM 1 - 7 FEBRUARY until 27 MARCH ) In each lesson , students are led on a tour of the current gallery exhibition , taking inspiration from the artworks into their art-making class . During the first 4 weeks , they will learn to manipulate paper and build skills using techniques such as cutouts , jewellery making , and paper stitching . Their handson skills develop in weeks 5-8 as the students explore portraiture by learning to apply experimental drawing and painting techniques .
