... FROM THE PUBLISHER ’ S DESK ... Your thoughts ? julie @ hdinews . com . au

You can ’ t ignore that the pre- Christmas hype has well and truly started across shopping malls and in the media , and that is why I like the month of November , which has a focus on reflection .
There are celebrations that span continents , such as Diwali ( the Festival of Lights ), Remembrance Day , World Kindness Day and International Day for Tolerance , all rather poignant in the light of current global events .
Remembrance Day or Armistice Day features are on p26-28 . 11 November commemorates the 11 th hour of the 11 th day of the 11 th month when the guns on the Western Front fell silent , marking the end of the First World War .
Light up Windsor Street Fair starts on 2 December , p12 , so make sure you get down to Windsor Mall for a spectacular and illuminating evening out ! If you are pushed for time to go pressy shopping this year , take the
HDI opportunity to buy gifts from the seventy stalls that will be lining the mall .
On Saturday 18 November pack your picnic rug and chairs and head on down to the wharf at Windsor to celebrate Paddlewheeler Gala Day , p21 . The return of this muchloved vessel is tremendous news for locals and tourists alike . A party atmosphere will be created with live entertainment , market stalls and food and coffee vendors .
Still on the social scene , the Greater Sydney Caravan Camping Leisure Roadshow returns to the Hawkesbury Showground mid- November , p10 . The show features everything for the outdoorsy type and showcases the latest products in caravans , camping , 4x4 driving and bikes . A great day out for all the family - you are sure to get lots of pointers for your next roadtrip . Lest we forget .
