ADAPTIVE AS ALWAYS ! WELCOME ... THE KURMOND GROCER X CAFE ON BELLS LINE OF RD

Before it ’ s even reached its one year anniversary , The Kurmond Grocer , still staying true to its vision and mission , survives and is thriving . Welcome The Kurmond Grocer X Cafe !
As a small local business in our first year of operations , which people say is the toughest , we had faced a few ups and downs .
The Kurmond Grocer had been constantly growing to a stage where we had to redesign the layout , have more staff in and added more variety .
Eventually the cafe side of the business just took over and we had slowed down on the produce aspect of the store and a few dreams along the way .
There had been times where we had thought to slow down and we constantly
questioned if we were doing the right thing . We promised 7 days , a genuine service with great customer service , so we just kept up the spirit and kept on doing that .
Naveen ( the owner ) says “ We often face the unexpected in business and you have to be able to be grounded and pivot , sometimes it requires you taking out the trash , trimming the fat and sometimes it requires you to just keep on keeping on . We ’ ve been lucky to be well supported by our locals and regulars , we ’ re also proud that we have a powerhouse of a manager , Alison Mccurley at the forefront of the business now !
The belief of if “ we grow , we all grow ” being the driving force . We will always be a local store for our locals in support of community and bringing people together .
Nav and the staff are all locals to the Hawkesbury , we know exactly how the area works . Do the right thing & support others when you can .
Thanks to the local
communities ’ support and appreciation , we have been able to keep on the right course and now expand its operations . The support and feedback we had received from visitors and tourists had been so reassuring also . When we had opened our doors , we had not realised that the Bells Line of Road was so popular and in need of a store like ours . Naveen will always boast that he has the best dark roast on this side of the bridge up until you hit the Hive at Bermabing .
As always supporting local businesses , farmers and trades , we ’ ve introduced a few new elements that make us Hawkesbury proud !
Alongside , the Hawkesbury Harvest Trails member and green guru , Eric Brocken , we have taken a new approach to our operations as a shop and have maintained a sustainable living practice that composts and recycles with minimal waste .
Harvest farms , an organic farm in Bilpin have been supplying the Grocer with local organic produce and even host permaculture and gardening classes at the store .
We also get our produce from local farms , Sciberras & the local high school , Colo High so that the students can see the “ fruit ” of their efforts from seed to sale .
With the Kurmond Grocer X Cafe going steady and proving to overcome any obstacle , we are proud to announce that we will be jumping into the Hawkesbury Agri Tourism sector !
As part of the store , we will be opening up a genuine , family friendly and earth friendly flower farm that will allow for florists , businesses and tourists to visit right in the heart of Kurmond for Spring 2024 .
