Free iPad program
Hawkesbury Library Service is launching a three-month trial iPad program for seniors from 1 November 2022 until 31 January 2023 in conjunction with the Digital Literacy Foundation .
Nearly all of the 3 million Australians who remain digitally unconnected are vulnerable and marginalised . Their lack of digital skills compounds their social exclusion and economic disadvantages .
Eligible seniors will be provided with an iPad , internet access , and the support of a volunteer digital mentor for the duration of the trial .
The iPads will be taken home by participants to use outside of scheduled meet-ups and classes . The foundation will provide mentors to assist participants in using the tablet as well as technical assistance . The iPads will be issued in a protective case and screen protector with inbuilt internet access . The program is free for seniors aged 65 + or for First Nations seniors 50 +.
The trial program commenced on 1 November . Register your interest as soon as possible as places are limited . Call 4560 4460 or email programs @ hawkesbury . nsw . gov . au .
