Just a little reminder that we only have seven weeks until Christmas ... welcome to our November edition !
There is plenty to do around the Hawkesbury this month , starting with iPads for Seniors . Participate in the free iPad program that the Hawkesbury Library Service is launching as a three-month trial for seniors starting from November 1 , 2022 until January 31 , 2023 . This is being run in conjunction with the Digital Literacy Foundation .
Also read about free cooking workshops in Bilpin and free woodworking workshops in Wilberforce . So much to do !
Our cover story , the Light Up Windsor Street Fair , is the Hawkesbury ’ s favourite annual Christmas event . On Saturday December 3 , Windsor Mall and George Street , Windsor will burst to life with Christmas cheer from 5pm to 9pm .
There will be dozens of market stalls , snow flurries , Christmas lights , free face
HDI painting , and roving entertainment ! So put this date in your calendar as it is always a great community event .
Our finest this month is John May and we talk to him about his amazing tennis career at his McGraths Hill home of 40 years , on pages 6 and 7 .
We talk to Kim McGuire about the sale of the Australian Hotel and what that means to her and her family , after their 172-year link with the cherished venue . You can read all about Kim ’ s impending travel plans on pages 8 and 9 .
And we say a fond farewell to Peter O ’ Donnell . Peter passed in Kurrajong and District Community Nursing Home after a long illness and his loss has impacted greatly on our community . We pay tribute to him on page 13 .
Also , the magazine is jam packed with other stories to keep you aware of what is happening in our Hawkesbury back yard , so we hope you enjoy reading this edition .
