Welcome to spring and our September edition . We ask the question that everyone is asking “ Raise or Release ” the Warragamba Dam and our journalist Greg ‘ Harpo ’ Martin writes a great article on page 5 . He then speaks to Dave Zammit at the Hawkesbury PCYC and tells us what the PCYC are going to do with the $ 15 million dollar grant they have just received from the government . Read his story on pages 6-7 .
We say goodbye to Barb Robertson on page 8 . Barb has to close up her beloved store The Readers Den on George Street after 16 years in business ; Barb has everything for sale at half price so get along and get yourself a treasured novel or DVD before they all disappear .
Now something to look forward to , after being cancelled due to the floods , Savour the Flavour has set a new date to launch the new food and beverage event which will be held in Richmond Park , Richmond , on Saturday 15 October 2022 from 4pm to 8pm . Get along and celebrate the Hawkesbury ’ s past and present as the original ‘ food bowl ’ of Sydney . Visitors and locals alike will have the chance to sample and purchase delicious food ,
HDI produce and beverages from local farmers and businesses .
The Wisemans Inn , page 30 , is the place to dine with a special ‘ atmosphere ’. The Rocker Covers Duo will be playing live at the venue - one September show and three in October are currently scheduled . The duo have been playing on and off for 25 years and know how to please a crowd . They start off with slower , more melodic numbers and then ramp it up as you progress through your lunch !
Wisemans Ferry and St Albans , page 31 , are delightful places for all the family , and particularly good places to go for a day trip . St Albans Village Market is back to its usual two day format and there are bargains galore . Pop into the charming Pickled Wombat whilst you are there and keep the hunger pains at bay – think bacon and egg rolls , freshly-baked pastries and sandwiches made with delicious deli produce . The owners have been told their coffee ‘ is the best on town ’ – so , you can check it out yourself !
We have our regular columns from local contributors for you to enjoy and much , much more . We hope you enjoy our September edition .
