CELEBRATING 110 YEARS

1912 - 2022

Licensed Club opened

Between 1975-1983 , many functions and fund-raising events were held , however , the club was having a problem with the original licensing advisor and getting into the court system , so on advice a decision was made to join the Registered Leagues Clubs Association .
On our acceptance at a meeting held at North Sydney Leagues Club , we achieved almost instant success .
In 1980 new legal representation was appointed and with advice from the NSW Police Superintendent of Licensing , our books and membership records were submitted , and a date of hearing was granted .
After a short hearing at Windsor Court House a conditional license was granted , which required an annual renewal , and this is where all the hard work began .
The Board of Directors decided that to raise the funds required , a Debenture Issue should commence - a decision which proved quite successful . Dick Woods , a club member , invested a substantial amount of $ 10,000 , which created great confidence in the club ’ s future .
During 198I I was able to locate a steel portal building frame , the size required by our plans , ( approximately 30 metres x 18 metres ) for $ 25,000 . The building was previously an ice cream factory at Alexandria owned by Streets Ice Cream and was due for demolition .
The frame was purchased for $ 5000 which included the dismantling and loading onto our transport for delivery to Windsor . Final building approval was received , and work got underway with the assistance from volunteer members and local sub-contractors when required .
After more than 12 years of hard-working boards , the Windsor Leagues Club opened for business on Thursday 3 April 1986 for an unofficial trial run and at the bar were Eddie Mendham with club volunteers , Eiren Green and Leanne Gallon .
The official opening was conducted by chairman Malcolm Frost and executive director of Australian Rugby League Ken Arthurson on Saturday 19 April 1986 .

a proud history

What ’ s with the Wolves ?

The derivation of the term Windsor Wolves was first used in 1972 when a growing number of junior players made it necessary for the club to register two teams in the Under 11s age group .
The first division team was coached by senior player and schoolteacher Jack Sanday and the 3rd Division team was coached by Colin Marsh .
To distinguish between the teams , the 1st Division team was tagged the Windsor Wolves . Members of that team included Tony Bice , Clayton Norman , Neville Jacket , Darryl Shearer and Mark Shelley , and the emblem was designed by Ross Shearer .
The term Wolves was not used widely until the amalgamation of the Windsor Junior Rugby League Football Club and the Windsor Leagues Club Ltd during the 1990s and was then adopted by all teams and the club generally .

The

Webb Family and Webb and Sons Pty Ltd have been associated with the Windsor Wolves for 38 years , either by playing , voluntary work , coaching or sponsorship .
