Colo High School ’ s agriculture faculty has triumphed once again at the annual Hawkesbury Show , taking out several medals in cattle , sheep and poultry classes , as well as judging awards .
Competing under the tutelage of Danielle Alexander , the students , who both raise the animals and tend to them daily as part of their studies at the North Richmond campus , continue their successful streak in several fields .
“ I ’ m very proud of the students , they ’ re beautiful kids who work hard and deserve their success ,” said Ms Alexander , after completing her fourth Hawkesbury Show with Colo High .
“ Our success is consistent [ in all classes ], however this year we entered more sheep but had no vegetables unfortunately due to the floods .”
In the sheep pavilion , Sam the ram led by Sarah , won the Suffolk ram over fourtooth ( two years ) class , while ewe Susie , led by Gabriella took second place in the ewe lamb class , and Stella , led by Hope , placed third .
In the cattle ring , Colo ’ s heifer Panda and her calf Scotch ( led by Olivia and Sarah ) won the Champion Senior Angus Female title , while Topdeck ( led by Gabriella ) took out the Reserve Champion Senior Speckle Park Female .
The high school is also producing great cattle judges too , with Emily declared Champion Junior Judge 15 to 17-year-old and Jake awarded sixth place in the same category .
There ’ s an outstanding chook in their flock which won the Champion Australian Langshan at the show .
“ Our chicks are handled by the students just after they hatch and taken care of every day , with extra grooming taking place at showtime ,” Ms Alexander said .
“ We held chook washing demonstrations for primary students

Principal Tara Cullen said the school was proud of students ’ involvement in the Show , which highlighted their commitment and dedication to agriculture .
“ Mrs Danielle Alexander and Mr Philip Matar encourage our students to be involved in these programs and they should be commended on their outstanding leadership and encouragement of our Agriculture Show Team ,” Ms Cullen said .
Deputy principal Andrew King commented the results were “ well deserved and reflect the excellent agriculture program in place ” at the school .
Colo ’ s team is now preparing for the Penrith Ag Show as well as the inaugural Greater Sydney Schools Cattle Competition both being held in August .
