Thank you very much !

It will certainly be a case of shake , rattle and roll when Richmond ’ s historic The Regent Theatre hosts a gala Elvis Presley evening to celebrate the worldwide release of Elvis , Baz Luhrmann ’ s fabulous movie about the King of Rock ‘ n ’ Roll .
Elvis , starring the amazing Austin Butler as The King , the revered Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker , and Olivia De Jonge as Priscilla Presley , debuts in this country on Thursday , June 23 .
It will be screened at The Regent that night and the following night prior to an Elvis night-of-nights at the theatre on Saturday , June 25 .
The much-lauded movie is already being tipped to scoop the pool at next year ’ s Oscars ceremony .
The Regent ’ s operations manager , Brendan Newman , has done a Cecil B de Mille or Baz Luhrmann in producing what will be a night to remember for all those who attend .
The main event on the evening will be
the screening of Elvis , which will run for 159 minutes in the 280- seat Upstairs Cinema .
But the preliminaries will be just as entertaining as watching the actors ’ performances on the big screen !
Steve Head , long regarded as the best Elvis tribute artist in the country and host of Hawkesbury Radio 89.9 ’ s immensely popular Elvis Show , will broadcast the program live from the theatre from 5:00pm .
Steve has won almost every Elvis contest he has entered , including at the 2010 Parkes Elvis Festival .
Close your eyes and listen , and you would swear it was the King of Rock ‘ n ’ Roll belting out one of his myriad of great hits .
Those attending the movie premier on June 25 will hear for themselves , as after packing away the radio microphone , Steve

will be performing his Elvis Tribute Show live on stage at 7.30pm in Cinema 2 prior to the start of the movie at 8:00pm .
Also adding colour and fun to the evening will be a competition for the best outfitted Elvis and Priscilla moviegoers . “ There ’ ll be prizes for the winners and everyone attending will also be able to purchase from a large range of Elvis memorabilia ,” Brendan said .
The Regent now holds a liquor licence , and a large range of beverages will be available on the night as well as regular items for sale in the snack bar .
Alas , as only 280 theatregoers can attend the evening , tickets are expected to sell like hotcakes on a cold , winter ’ s night .
Tickets can be purchased at the theatre or online on The Regent ’ s website .
As Elvis sang in sang in his 1961 smash hit , Surrender – “ All the stars will tell the story , of our love and all its glory . Let us make this night of magic and make it a night of love .”
Regent Theatre is located at 145 Windsor Street , Richmond . All enquiries phone 4578 1800 or visit their website at www . theregentrichmond . com . au .

Hawks honour their forebears

Killer Queen will rock you by Greg Martin

There ’ ll be tears a-plenty at North Richmond ’ s Turnbull Oval on Sunday June 19 when Hawkesbury City Junior Rugby League Club hosts its annual Back to Hawkesbury Day .
Those shedding tears of remembrance and joy will be former players and supporters of the now defunct Richmond club which in 1987 amalgamated with Colo club to form Hawkesbury Hawks .
Richmond club campaigned in the Western District , Parramatta and Penrith DJRLs from 1914 until 1985 and Colo ’ s tenure as a member of the Penrith competition ran from the late 60s until 1986 .
Both clubs are gone , but Hawkesbury Hawks will ensure Richmond and Colo ’ s contribution to rugby league will never be forgotten .
Dave Noel , who coached the Hawkes A Grade for four years before relinquishing the role to club stalwart , Josh Peters , to become coaching coordinator this upcoming season , explains .
“ Our idea is to commemorate Richmond and Colo ’ s contribution to The Greatest Game of All ,” Dave said . “ Each season on our Back to Hawkesbury Day , we will alternate playing in each of the three clubs ’ jerseys .
“ We had hoped to commence the idea last season by playing in Colo ’ s colours , but COVID put paid to that , so this year Richmond has the honour of kicking off the concept .”
The three Sunday teams in action for Hawkesbury on June 19 – the under 16s , under 20s and A Grade outfits - will play in Richmond ’ s famous white with blue and red vees .
Dave Noel says the Back to Hawkesbury Day will

have something for everyone . “ Three games of highclass footy featuring Hawkes teams , there ’ ll be rides for the kids , and the bar and barbecue areas are sure to be doing strong business ,” Dave said .
This season , the club , now one of the most successful and well-run outfits in DJRL , not only in Penrith but in the metropolitan area , will field teams from under 7s through to A Grade .
Dave and the club are thrilled that the Hawks will field two female teams this season in under 14 and under 16 competitions .
“ Everyone wants to play this wonderful game and all of us at the Hawks are over the moon that we will field five under 7s teams – those youngsters are our future ,” Dave said .
The action at Turnbull Oval will kick-off at 9:00am when the hot shot under 16 outfit run out in their Richmond jerseys .
Bohemian Rhapsody , We Will Rock You , We Are the Champions , Somebody to Love , Radio Ga Ga , Another One Bites the Dust – rock to some of the greatest Queen songs when the Killer Queen Experience live show hits the stage at Windsor RSL to kick off the June long weekend .
The two-hour live show features Australian singer and actor John Blunt , who played Freddie Mercury in the 2016 Docu-Drama ‘ Who Wants to Live Forever ’.
He is recognised around the world for his uncanny resemblance to Freddie Mercury . His band mates are accomplished performers who also emulate the real deal , all with replica costumes and instruments .
Formed in 2003 , The Killer Queen Experience has risen from a local Brisbane-based Queen cover band to an international touring show and is Australia ’ s most sought-after tribute act today .
Killer Queen Experience is on 10 June , 8-10.30pm at Windsor RSL Club .
Tickets are from $ 39 and can booked online at windsorrslclub . com . au .
