21 years of Terror and tears

Greetings fans of all things Halloween and haunt related. Insane Sam's the Name and for over 20 years now Haunting has been the game.

I started when I was 16 at a local home haunted attraction and from that one Halloween night I was hooked , From then on I have dedicated a large amount of time to learning everything I could about haunted attractions and how they work. I specialize in makeup, character creation , custom props and staff training. Over my 21 year career I have worked for 15 haunted attractions, doing everything from parking cars and concession to becoming a general manager and now a haunt consultant for Hire.

From makeup, to set design, parking, q-line entertainment, security, special effects, fire codes, and much more. These are just some of the things on the list when working for, or starting a haunted attraction.

Starting your own haunt is a huge endeavor and should not be taken lightly. You should do as much research as you can and plan accordingly. There is a lot of competition out there to think about as well. Halloween is the 2nd biggest holiday in the country! Haunted attractions are growing bigger and becoming more sophisticated by the minute. From big budget Hollywood style effects to electronic control boards Haunts are an entertainment Juggernaut.

Personally I have gone back to my roots in the home haunt field.

Now in a little town just outside Harrisburg you will find...

The House Of Darkness

The Martz Family have lived in Marysville for many years and enjoy giving back to the community . so, once a year when the leaves change colors and the wind howls, a group of friends descend on the martz Home and transform this quiet home into a living breathing scream fest for all to enjoy. The Martz family starts the transformation in July with a first round of meeting designed to set up themes and general concepts.

Once every detail is agreed on, the construction can begin sometime in mid September threw October. Beginning at the Front of the home through the graveyard through the 3 room car port out to the back patio and into the new cottage of lost souls. then, past the ghouls on the deck and down the ramp to the exit? One can only hope! The Mart'z family has been putting on this Home haunted attraction for 14 years now and it is always a crowd pleaser,, I myself have been helping for the past few years and love every minute of it!
