On the other hand, Reese Lansangan
and Vica Hernandez are Indie pop acoustic duo
formed four years ago at the Ateneo Musicians’
Pool. Because of their unique music style, both
won the College Band of the Year Award at the
last NU 107 Rock Awards in 2010.
money to come up with the 1st Finest Summer album, released on
May last year and will come up with a second album, which will
contain more Electronic Dance Music (EDM)) types.“
Aside from performing with major acts, Finest Summer
also wants to do shows and play in B-Side and other landmarks.
Promotions? Finest intends to come up with a second album which

Currently, Finest will be doing shows in Nuvali’s Republic Wakepark.
His only message to other musicians is to just go on, chase their
dreams, and pursue what they want to honestly do with their life.
“There’s no money in music, not unless if you have major
corporations to support you. And to fellow Indie artists, keep on
making music; be inspired; go to a lot of shows; and support a lot
of your kind. Enough of the mainstream because there really is a lot
of good artists around.” (Check Finest’s official Facebook, http://

The Indie world of music is abuzz with
talented individuals who are deeply exploring
the depths of this musical genre. Some are into
groups, others on a solo but those collaborating
have found partners to augment the Indie
workforce. Here are a few of them solidly
journeying to the depths of Indie.
After graduating from college, Reese
and Vica created original songs with a whimsicaldreamy feel that matched their out of this
world vocal-blending. Although their songs are
typically more of acoustic love songs, both are
also involved in writing songs about Disney
characters, namely Peter Pan and Alice
in Wonderland.
Within a year, Reese and Vica were able
to produce their very first handmade extended
play (EP) titled, “Crossing
Neverlands.”
We also have budding
Indie artist, 20 year old Kaye
Matriano, who first picked up the
ukelele at the tail end of 2011 and since
then became her first and last love instrument.
Kaye’s music style is definitely a
combination of classic jazz and bluesy pop.
She covers songs of Monsters and Men, Bon
Iver and John Mayer, among others. She also
wrote original songs inspired by various interests
such as: sand, sea and god, oh and even, the
cats! Her popular songs from Soundcloud are:
The Nearness of You, Crazy Cat, Truth Is You’re
Already taken and Dark Ocean Blue.
Unique from the roster is singer-songwriter Anj
Florendo. With a music style that is adorable and
very Pinoy, Anj writes
her own
songs with an OPM
touch. She
also does gigs
in
between
and her top song
s from Soundcloud, she said,
are: Pwede
naman,
Campus
Crush and Ito
na naman.
June Marieezy is a singer-song writer
from Dallas, Texas who is now residing in Manila,
Philippines since 2008. Since then, she headed for
the alternative rock band called, “Good Morning
High Fives”. But this girl just simply cannot give up
the bluesy soul vibe she has deep down in her
roots.
June’s songwriting style has become
ambitious and catchy as if it reflected the brave
and unworldly scenery of Manila. Her popular
songs are: Think About You, Happiness Is Free
and Heavy eyes, written with a slow-soothing
feeling, matches her exceptional personality.
