Goldie’s curiosity of classic cars began in the mid-80’s as soon as she was offered the apprenticeship with Johnson’s Auto Center in Brooklyn – a business she would later own. Her curiosity soon developed into a love of fast cars and the racing circuit when she first became a casual employee with the Specialist Woman’s Organization of Retribution & Defense (S.W.O.R.D.). In the summer of 1994 she invested in a swish-looking 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in ‘Plum Crazy Purple’. One can only speculate to assume that her viewing of such cult movies as “Vanishing Point” (1971) and “Gone in 60 Seconds” (1974) had influenced her decision to purchase. However, Goldie fell in love with the colour of this particular ‘DC’ and affectionately named it “Plum” on the day it was delivered from a classic car showroom in Missouri directly to the Auto center in Brooklyn. Goldie subsequently supervised parts of Plum’s restoration (including that personalised Licence plate) at the center and felt a great sense of pride and achievement for herself when she first drove Plum home via her usual route of the Manhattan Bridge.
