Aaron Douglass

Aaron Douglass was a well accomplished and profound figure during the Harlem Renaissance. He was a very well accomplished painter and illustrator during the 1920's. He was nicknamed the "father of black art" for his paintings which usually depicted the struggles of African- American life during the 1920's. His art was published in popular magazines such as the crisis, opportunity as well as the National Urban's League.

Jacob Lawrence

Jacob Lawrence was considered to be the most acclaimed painter and artist of the 20'th century. He was most known for his war and migration series. His art is usually always colorful and abstract while depicting the African-American experience. While continuing his passion for painting, Lawrence also spent 15 years teaching at the University of Washington.
