Artists of the Harlem Rennisance
There were numerous artists during the time of the Harlem Rennaicanse. Some of these artists included legends such as Josephine Baker and the Nicolas Brothers. Both of these groups were known as the extremely respected artists during this era.
Josephine Baker was born on June 3rd, 1906 in St. Louis, Missouri. She lived in Europe for most of her life and was the first African American to become famous on a global level. She was known as a dancer, but also sang as well. Her most popular costume was a simple girdle made out of only bananas. Baker was also heavily into Civil Rights, even debating taking over for MLK at one point.
