Retailers Communicating with a target audience

Retailers have many different ways in which they target their audiences. For example Primark and Chanel. They are two completely different shops but communicate with their target markets in very similar ways.

Chanel and Primark are two extremely different brands but both well established in the type of retail they provide. Both brands do very little to advertise and communicate to their audience. As they are so established they need to do little advertising because they have built up such a brand image that they can acquire customers without advertising. Customers know what they are going for.

Both of the brands communicate through their stores and bags. If you see a woman walking down the street with a Primark shopping bag or a Chanel shopping bag you immedietely know the brand. This is how these brands communicate.

Personally i do think Chanel as a brand do advertise more through the less conventional way. They communicate with their target audience through fashion shows and editorial magazines. This would target the audience Chanel would be trying to get for their brand as the people going to Fashion events and
