Program Orientation You may visit the program for an individual orientation by appointment. An open house will be scheduled prior to the summer program and again in the fall. During the open house, staff will be available to answer questions regarding procedures, schedules, and needs of individual children. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to become a part of the program. Your involvement will help insure a quality program for your children. Some ways you can become involved in your child’s out of school time experiences are: • sharing a talent or special skill with program participants • reading parent communications available through site files and newsletters • consulting periodically with the staff on your child’s progress • meeting with or contacting the site manager to provide input for the program or site • sharing art materials and any other recycled materials • donating gently used equipment, toys, books or games • join the Community Ed Out of School Time Parent Advisory Council Parent/Guardian Responsibility P A R E N T • Read the Program Handbook and know the program guidelines and procedures. • Sign your child in and/or out every day. • Check your child’s folder every day. • Return calls to site staff as soon as possible when notified of an illness or urgent situation. • Ask staff for feedback on your child’s day. • Notify program staff if your child will be absent. (Notifying the school office is not sufficient) • Provide written notice of change in schedule or withdrawal. • Let your child’s classroom teacher and school office know your child’s Adventure Connection schedule and any changes that may occur throughout the year. • Model respectful behavior when interacting with staff and students. Abusive behavior and/ or verbal threats by parents toward program staff, children or other parents will be cause for immediate termination. • Make your payments by the due date and keep your account paid in full. 5 I N F O
