Motivation is a key factor concerning reading and writing training among employees, because there may be a shame to admit lack of such competence. Very often we see that when asked to read or write something, a person with low literacy may:  make excuses to avoid the task; for example, - I can’t read this because I forgot my glasses,” - “I don’t have time to read this now. Can I take it home?” - “I hurt my hand, so I can’t fi ll out this form.”  read very slowly  stare at the page they’re supposed to read, but not move their eyes back and forth  ask questions about things that are clearly stated in the document  make a lot of spelling or grammar mistakes in their writing, or fi ll out a form with incorrect information  bring a friend or relative with them who helps with reading and writing In order to defuse the shame and instead motivate one may tell this training is about improving the tools the workplace use. A good way to do this is to Use text and situations from workplace It would be an advantage if the teacher manages to use texts that are relevant to the worker. This requires some preparation and insight from the teacher. It is therefore important for the teacher to find out who, when, where and why they selected texts usually read and written, to know how he or she should work on a text. One way to acquire this knowledge is to analyze texts and text usage found in the workplace from: • Which profession the text is read and written • What functions the text usage fills • What role employees have when they read or write the text.
