Hamilton Park Bobcats
State Championship - 1961
The Hamilton Park High School closed after the May 1969 graduation. This
made the class of 69 the last graduating class of Hamilton Park. The principal of
the High School at that time was James O. Griffin. This completed 14 years of
Hamilton Park High School graduates.
Hamilton Park 10 th , 11 th and 12 th grade students were integrated into Richardson
and Lake Highlands high schools in the school year of 1969-70; while the 7 th , 8 th
and 9 th grade students remained at Hamilton Park Junior High. The classes of ‘73,
‘74 and ‘75 were the last classes to attend Hamilton Park Junior High.
Hamilton Park Junior High School closed in the fall of 1970. The Hamilton
Park Jr. High School students were integrated to Northwood, Richardson and
Forest Meadow junior high schools; while a few 9th graders were integrated to the
newly opened Berkner High School.
The opening of Berkner High School split some households with older siblings
attending Richardson High School and their younger siblings attending Berkner.
For the next five years, the Hamilton Park Elementary School served only black
elementary students from the Hamilton Park community.
