SALEM ’ S LOT ( 2024 ): HUBIE BARCLAY MARSTEN ’ S CUSTOM-MADE TOMBSTONE - PRODUCTION-USED PROP . Large and impressive 41x67x11 ” deep wood-framed tombstone tailored to look like real stone . The Marsten House is essentially a character in its own right in Stephen King ’ s novel , Salem ’ s Lot . The mansion overlooked the town of Jerusalem ’ s ( Salem ’ s ) Lot and was considered to have an evil presence . The former resident was a murderer named Hubie Marsten ( where he killed himself and his wife ). The Marsten House haunts Ben Mears , the main protagonist , an author and one-time resident of Jerusalem ’ s ( Salem ’ s ) Lot , Maine . Mears claimed to have seen ghosts in the house when he was a child ( namely the ghost of Hubie Marsten ), and has returned to Salem ’ s Lot to write a book about the Marsten House . Upon arrival , he discovered that the house was purchased by Kurt Barlow , an Austrian immigrant who arrived in the Lot ostensibly to open an antique store . Barlow was said to be on an extended buying trip ; only his business partner , Richard Straker , was seen in public . This tombstone , representing Hubie Marsten , was professionally handcrafted by production to have the appearance of a real weathered and aged grand tombstone . The tombstone is made of a stucco-like material that has been painstakingly modeled over a wooden support frame . The tombstone was inscribed to include a verse taken directly from Stephen King ’ s novel : “ MARSTEN , HUBERT BARCLAY , October 6 , 1889 , August 12 , 1939 , “ The Angel of Death , Who Holdeth , The Bronze Lamp Beyond , The Golden Door , Hath Taken Thee Into , Dark Waters , God Grant He Lie Still ”. Some general wear to upper corners and lower left front corner each revealing from . 5 ” to 3 ” of the wooden frame beneath - not enough to detract from this monumental display ! Though ultimately unused in the condensed , theatrical version of the film , Gary Dauberman ’ s Director ’ s Cut ( not released yet ) includes the Hubie Marsten / Ben Mears background story , and this tombstone in seen during Danny Glick ’ s burial . Production-aged . General handling wear . Due to the size and / or weight of this item , packing and shipping must be done by a third party .
