SALEM ’ S LOT - SCREEN AND PRODUCTION USED PROP COLLECTION
Stephen King ’ s second novel - Salem ’ s Lot - sees writer Ben Mears return to his childhood home in hopes of sparking his inspiration , only to discover his hometown is slowly having its lifeblood drained by a bloodthirsty vampire who has infiltrated and infected Jerusalem ’ s Lot . The 1975 novel has been adapted a number of times , first as a 1979 television miniseries ( which received a 1987 theatrical sequel ) with another television miniseries being released in 2004 . Just like a vampire , the story has risen once again , this time directed by Gary Dauberman and streaming on Max with a theatrical release in the UK . Scheduling for Salem ’ s Lot was repeatedly hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic , ensuring that the film was caught in a web of production limbo for years following it ’ s 2019 announcement and subsequent 2021 filming . After a prolonged delay , spirited fans were eager to sink their fangs into the updated offering , which placed an emphasis on high production value , and props oozing with throwback ‘ 70s horror flavor . These listings are sure to bring a memorable edge of darkness to any horror fan ’ s prop collection . Most of the props listed in the following pages are screen-matched and their online listings include photos of the scenes in which they can be located within the film . All of the props were production-used , and although several important pieces were ultimately not given any screen time in the condensed theatrical version , Gary Dauberman hinted at a Director ’ s Cut containing an additional hour of storyline in which many of these props are rumored to be found . A recent Screen Rant article suggests that Salem ’ s Lot is also primed for a second movie , leaving the door open for a more true-to-source sequel than 1987 ’ s Return To Salem ’ s Lot . Such a sequel could wrap up the omitted epilogue of the novel wherein Mark Petrie and Ben Mears find themselves returning to the town to vanquish the remaining vampires and ultimately defeat the dark forces which were attracted to Salem ’ s Lot in the first place . This could potentially reprise some of the lost footage containing these props as well . If you ’ re brave enough , Hake ’ s invites you to peer beneath the veil at the evocative pieces of a story , infused with enough malevolent charm to wake the dead in the newest adaptation of Stephen King ’ s classic vampire fever dream , Salem ’ s Lot .
