His original works include the poems “ Paul Revere ’ s Ride , The Song of Hiawatha ” and “ Evangeline .” He was also known for his translation work , becoming the first American to completely translate Dante Alighieri ’ s Divine Comedy . Invitation reads “ The Trustees of the Metropolitan Museum of Art , request the honor of your presence at the Inauguration Ceremonies of the new building and the private view of their collections .” Invitation has faint moisture stain in bottom right corner , otherwise light wear . Extremely Fine . Ticket has only minor wear and is Exc . The Metropolitan Museum of Art or the “ Met ” was first opened to the public in 1870 and the first expansion of the museum , referred to in this invitation , occurred in 1888 .
