PRS is that it feels like an old T-shirt, comfortable and familiar. It’ s extremely important that you don’ t have to fight an instrument when you play it. In my opinion, the body shape is elegant and sexy like a Cadillac, yet has the throaty tone of an old muscle car … It’ s the perfect balance of playability, tone and craftsmanship. Paul always says,‘ If the guitar is comfortable, it stays in tune, and it looks and sounds great right out of the box, then we’ ve done our job.’”
GIVING BACK The fondness Paul has for Rich is apparent as I ask him to discuss his work ethic.“ He’ s got a very good eye for quality, and he works hard at treating people really well. He encourages innovation here. He’ s respected by his coworkers, he’ s very bright, and he gets it. I know that’ s a slang term, but you see, people either get it or they don’ t, and he gets it.” Paul fondly recalls playing the 2011 Western Maryland Blues Fest.“ Rich was the guy backstage tuning the guitars and making sure everything was right. He wasn’ t looking for limelight, he was just trying to help out.” So does that mean Rich is happy being behind the scenes? Paul laughs,“ No, I didn’ t say that. It’ s a good story because I’ m sure he would’ ve much preferred to be the person out there singing, but he was trying to help. And I like that. He’ s a strong willed guy... AND, he’ s got a really interesting voice. It’ s somewhere between Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains.”
When not at PRS, Rich enjoys writing and recording his own solo work in his home studio, while taking on select projects for friends. Technology affords him the luxury of working with musicians all over the country.“ I like being able to work out of my home and send tracks to
