Esta construcción se encuentra enclavada en el centro
histórico de la ciudad y es la única que se ha conservado
de la época musulmana. La medina de Marbella fue una
de las ciudades más importantes de la “Rayya” (provincia
de Málaga). La Marbella amurallada de los musulmanes
abarcaba aproximadamente una superficie de 90.000
metros 2 . Sobre esta reducida área se extendería una trama
de estrechas callejas, que todavía hoy conserva su trazado.
This construction is set in the historic centre of the town
and it is the only one conserved from the muslim era. The
medina of Marbella was one of the most important cities
or the “Rayya” (province of Malaga). The fortified Marbella
of the muslims covered approximately a surface of 90.000
square metres. On this reduced ara a group fo back streets
were constructed, today the lines can still be seen.

DALÍ SCULPTURES
Le proponemos que conozcan el conjunto histórico y
arquitectónico del Casco Antiguo de Marbella. La planta del
pueblo es prácticamente la misma que tenía en el siglo XVI.
Se conserva magníficamente, en favor de una intensa vida
comercial, donde se pueden encontrar los más variopintos
establecimientos en un entorno de callejas blancas y balcones
con geranios.
We propose that you get to know the historical and arqui-
tectural ensemble of old town is practically the same as the
original base was in teh XVIth century. It is magnificient pre-
served, and it favours an intense commercial life, where you
can find the most diverse establishments, in an area of whi-
te washed side streets and balconies filled with Geraniums.
YACIMIENTOS ARQUEOLÓGICOS
ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES
Basílica Paleocristiana Vega del Mar (San Pedro) (s.
IV). Rodeada por una necrópolis visigoda con más de 180
enterramientos de distinta tipología. Única en la Península
Ibérica.
Bóvedas o Termas de Guadalmina (San Pedro) (s. II-III). A
500 m de la Basílica. Además de su uso higiénico, eran un punto
de reunión social.
Villa Romana de Río Verde (Marbella) (s. I). Edificada como
finca rústica en la que se desarrollaban actividades agropecuarias,
en especial la fabricación del garum, pasta de diversos pescados
cuyo precio alcazaba cifras exorbitantes en Roma. Monumento
declarado Bien de Interés Cultural por la Junta de Andalucía,
y protegido con el máximo nivel en el Patrimonio Histórico
Andaluz.
In the centrally-located Avenida del Mar is a permanent,
open-air exhibition of sculptures by the incomparable ar-
tist Salvador Dalí. A unique collection that you can admire
whilst taking a stroll close to the sea. Paleo-Christian Basilica of Vega del Mar (San Pedro) (4th
C). Surrounded by a Visigoth necropolis with over 180 tombs of
different characteristics. The only one on the Iberian Peninsula.
The Guadalmina Thermal Baths, also known as “The
Vaults” (San Pedro) (2nd–3rd C.) 500 m. from the Basilica.
Apart from being used for personal hygiene, it was also a place
to meet socially.
Roman Villa at Río Verde (Marbella) (1st C.) Built as a country
estate where fish farming activity took place, particularly the pre-
paration of “garum”, a fish paste made from different fish, that
commanded exorbitant prices in Rome. It has been declared a
Monument of Cultural Interest by the Regional Government of
Andalusia and is protected as being a high level example of the
Historic Heritage of Andalusia.

exposición permanente al aire libre de esculturas del genial
