Tire
Repair
• Tire should be repaired well with a patch and
plug assembly
– When reviewing your repaired tire, ensure that it
is repaired well using a patch and plug assembly.
The plug only technique is not allowed as it may
cause the tire to be prone to more damage. The
plug simply secures the injury long enough for
the tire to re-inflate. This is why the patch is also
needed; it works to seal the damage after repair,
eventually melting away and leaving no sign of
repair.
• Repair tires with a diameter greater than ¼”
– Size is key when it comes to punctures. It is
important to note that when the puncture is
bigger than ¼ inch, it is not safe to repair it.
Such repairs require special attention and may
need to be replaced completely.
• Ensure tire is removed from rim before repair
– This enables the damaged area to be clearly
inspected, ensuring that the repair is
professionally and excellently undertaken.
