Cooperative winery of
MONTBLANC
INDUSTRIAL BUT QUALITY
The Cooperative Winery of Montblanc has existed since 1937.
(Alexandra’s tears), an elegant IGP Oc
produced as both a red and a white. The
story behind the wine was that it was
created when Alexandra Rosenfeld,
born in Saint Thibéry, was elected Miss
Languedoc in 2005.
And it must have brought her luck,
because she was elected Miss France and
Miss Europe the year after!
Wishing to share their experience and
passion, the members of the Montblanc
cooperative are moving towards wine
tourism, so now is the time to meet them.
Who knows?
They might bring you luck!

GLOSSARY
Sexual confusion
Sexual confusion is a technique to fight against pa-
rasites, notably insects, by disturbing their hormonal
reproduction system. It is used in wine growing and
arboriculture..
It was officially inaugurated by Albert
Lebrun, President of the Republic, on 2nd
July 1939. The president of the winery
at the time was the illustrious deputy-
mayor from Montblanc, Edouard Barthe,
who was given the moniker “The Pope of
Wine” because of his action to ensure the
development of wine legislation in the
French parliament.
Their wines are modern, aromatic
and respectful. Today, 280 cooperative
winegrowers oversee the production and
sale of their wine from 1500 hectares of
vines, nearly a third of which are protected
from pests through sexual confusion.
The speciality of the winery is to sell the
wine in bulk, which gives it an industrial
character. ”We are a bulk-selling winery”,
explains David Reverbel, the head of
production for these IGP and AOC wines,
based on a policy of quality using advanced
technology which ensures the Montblanc
winery’s solid reputation for producing
white and rosé wines. Nevertheless, a
direct sales outlet is open to the public to
sell their two ranges of bottled wines.
It’s also a chance to meet David, whose
enthusiasm will capture your imagination
and put you under the magical spell of his
passion for wine.
The preferred wine of the winegrowers
of Montblanc is “les larmes d’Alexandra”
