After two months in Kosovo, I am extremely proud of 1-38 Cavalry Squadron’s Soldiers. In the past month, the unit accomplished sling load training, crowd and riot control air-mobile training, participated in the Danish Contingent 26.2 km road march, and conducted a U.S. M9 Pistol range. HHT, 1-38 CAV conducted the M9 Pistol range to improve Soldiers’ pistol shooting.
In the past month 1-38 CAV continued to build strong relationships with our multinational partners through various training events. Twenty-one students from four different nations participated in sling load training. This consisted of three days of training on how to rig equipment under a UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter. In addition, air-mobile crowd and riot control training ensured that all multinational companies understand how to incorporate helicopter transportation in the event of a demonstration. The DANCON March had 760 participants, including more than 100 U.S. Soldiers, and improved multinational relations. Congratulations to all the Soldiers who completed the 25 km road march within six hours. Strength, determination, and willpower truly de?ne these soldiers. These training events continue to improve our relationships with our international partners. Next month, the Forward Command Post will host the Recovery Rodeo. The Recovery Rodeo will be a demonstration of each recovery asset from the various nations, as well as cross training to ensure that all vehicles can be recovered by the recovery assets available. This training will prepare the unit for winter in the case that quick recovery of vehicles across the multinational FCP is necessary. The rear detachment and Family Readiness Group have done a great job of supporting the Soldiers and their Families. On July 22, the rear detachment also provided outstanding support to the FORSCOM Soldier and NCO of the Year Obstacle Course at Range 85. I am very proud of every 1-38 Cavalry Squadron Soldier and I appreciate your hard work each and every day. LIGHTNING RECON - Lt. Col. Eric Crider
