GSWPA camp readiness quiz Are you ready to go to Girl Scout camp? Read each question and place an ✔ in the answer column that best describes how you feel. You bet! Sometimes Not yet Do you enjoy staying overnight at a friend's house without missing your family? Can you shampoo and brush/comb your own hair? Do you enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and swimming? Are you willing to try new foods that you haven't eaten before? Can you live without radio, TV, video games, phone, or internet? Are you comfortable being around bugs and flying insects? Do you like to meet new people and try new activities with other girls? Can you make your own bed and keep track of your belongings? When things don't go your way, are you able to still participate in a positive way? Do you enjoy sleeping in a cabin or tent and listening to the sounds of nature? Are you willing to help with kapers (camp responsibilities) like sweeping cabins, setting tables, and picking up trash? Can you follow instructions from adults? Do you make new friends and warm up to new places easily? Are you excited for camp? If you mostly answered “not yet,” you’re Camp Kindling! You’ve learned a lot about what it means to be a good camper, and you’re ready for a two- to four-night camp! Find a session that would be the perfect fit to your summer—hammocks, zombies, archery, air rifles, or wizards. Choose a session that matches your grade level and experience. If you mostly answered “you bet!,” you’re an All-Time Camper! You have a lot of experience camping, and you’re ready for a camp stay of six nights or longer! Oh, and challenge-seeker?
